Feb 29
Leap year hence extra long February and today is the day 29th and Friday on top of it. Weekend finally, these last few days have been pretty “crazy” for me - since Kim is basking in the sun I have been “slaving” in her units and it has been busy. Plus our normally pretty busy schedule so no wonder I am looking forward to weekend. So far we have no plans but I might manage to do some biking - first time this year.
Now something interesting for all you sailors up there (dla zeglarzy !!! - Tamara czytaj, bedzie Ciebie i Twego meza interesowac). There is a guy who is single handedly sailing around the world. Hi is Canadian out of Victoria, his name is Glen Wakefield and I think he is pretty cool. Anyway, he has a web site which provides its readers with Glen’s progress, daily fixes, pictures etc. I have been following his progress daily using Google Maps (check here), so can you. Check out his site, it is nicely done.

What a week has it been so far, wow. One of my cooworkers went for little holidays to Cancun, Mexico and I have to cover for her. So far I haven’t had a chance to spent one day looking after my unit (Foothills Hospital) instead everyday since last Friday I am in Peter Lougheed Hospital or our Sunridge Clinic. Today I got e-mail from a friend of mine from Poland. She and her husband do lots of sailing, she sent me lots of nice “sailing” pictures - thanks Tamara, on the day like today - cold, snowing, pretty wintery overall - those pictures made my day.

Well, weekend is almost over. I haven’t done much except “rekindled” old memories, renewed all friendships. First of all I need to tell you about “nasza-klasa.pl”. It is a web site brought to life by few young individuals in Poland. Its sole purpose is to reconnect people who attended the same class in elementary, junior, senior high and / or university. One can find and hook up with all friends, catch up on their lives, exchange e-mails, telephones etc. It is something very similar to “Facebook” but with “alumnus” slant and in Polish version. Anyway, thanks to this fabulous site I was able to reestablish contact with whole bunch of people. There is no need to mention that for an individual like myself, (very social creature) this is like hitting a jackpot. After more than 20 years I had called and talked for an hour with Ela Wojciechowska (Hojak). Finding her was pretty fluky but that is a different story altogether. I talked to “Mlody” (Mietek Olszewski from Augustow) whom I haven’t seen for over 30 years!!!!1 Isn’t that something? My another great “find” or should I rather say I was found by my another “find” is Malgosia whom I remember as Prugar. She still works in LOT (Polish national air carrier) in Gdansk. Well, I met Malgosia in the 70-s while attending (nomen omen) English classes. She was looking for a job at the time so I talked to Krzysiek Kosinski (rest in peace) who was the boss of LOT in Gdansk where I worked at the time and ever since Malgosia has been working for LOT. Anyhow she dropped me an e-mail and I was planning on calling her but simply ran out of time. One has to remember that there is 8 hours difference between Calgary and Poland hence I can only call till 2 pm my time (10 pm in Poland). Well, I’ll call her next weekend. I also talked to Bolek Marczewski but that’s “nihil novi sub sole” since we have been keeping in touch regularly ever since I left Poland. So here you are, my weekend in a nutshell. Aha, one more thing – finally I fixed fireplace in our bedroom, no more waking up feeling like an Eskimo in igloo.
Feb 22 - later
Wow what a supper it was!! I am sure tomorrow morning my daily “scale watching ritual” will provide increased reading but…..what the hell ;-)), it was gooooood. I forgot to take any pictures though. B the time I realized I didn’t take any pictures it was all over - the table resembled post nuclear explosion landscape hence presented no inspiration for “photography”, next time ;-))

Tonight I will prepare good Polish dinner - more about it later
Feb 17 - 18 Bellevue and Fernie
For the weekend we went to Bellevue and Fernie BC - to read more about it just click here or go to Events tab and find it there.
And yes we did watch “3:10 to Yuma” and I can’t really say that I liked it, why in hell would he kill all these people who f0llwed him all the way to get him free??? It looks to me like it does not pay to be loyal, is that the message the director wanted to convey??? As for “Rush Hour 3“, we started it and it is like other “Rush hour” movies, cute and possibly entertaining but I was not willing to sacrifice my “beauty sleep” for it so we only saw first 15 minutes of it.

Tian’s birthday, lucky him yesterday it was Bolek’s birthday as well and today we are going to Bolek’s for small “getogether” hence Tian has house to himself and his friends who will come to celebrate with Tian.
Meantime we went to Bolek’s. Halina (as always) outdid herself and prepared real feast. Beef, chicken, Salmon plus the trimmings. Wow, how the heck am I supposed to loose weight……futile battle. In all fairness though have a pick at my plate.
It was good all fun. Thank you Halina for preparing it all and having us over and thank you Bolek for having birthday ;-))) Many many more dear friend. (check pics)

Not much to tell you. Spanish class tonight. The more I learn this language the more I like it. To be honest I didn’t really care about Spanish to start with. I have always liked Italian but……I love to travel and especially travel to Central and South America. Spanish comes in handy there hence I am trying to master it instead of Italian. By the way I was surprised to see how much popular Spanish is in the States. Some places people do not speak English - Espanol solamente par favor ;-)))

Marysia (friend of mine from Poland) sent me a link this morning…..hilarious. I published it at the bottom of my Front Page. Check it out, the first one is in Czech with Polish caption so if you don’t speak any of those languages you might as well skip it although it is superb. The second one linguistically speaking is similar but those guys sing a song and the guy on the left is a total riot. Song sounds funny, they act funny, the whole thing is funny.
Later today we are going with boys to Chinese all you can eat place. They serve sushi, sashimi etc so it is always nice to go there. I might take my camera with me so there should be few pictures tomorrow.

Friday, after work went to celebrate Chester’s birthday. Too bad Limin was not feeling well so I had to go by lonesome self only. It was lots of fun. Marta (always inventive) had surprise for everyone but for Chester in particular. She had a lady come and do traditional bely dancing. Lady apart from being good entertainer was a good sport as well. She got Chester and some other birth day participants to dance with her……now this was super fun. I was in tears in no time flat, people were twitching on the floor unable to stop laughing, thanks Marta for thinking of something like that and thanks Chester for being such a dancer. Click here to see for yourself.
