Early this morning Marlena dropped me off at my other dear friend – Nina or as like to call her Ninka. By the way my Mother’s name was Nina as well.This morning Nina’s husband Jacek was leaving for China with a tour group. Jacek works as a guide since he speaks few impossible to learn languages (Chinese, Vietnamese) Took Jacek to the airport. Spent lovely day with Ninka, Mama Basia, Tomek, Maja (Nina’s sister) and her husband Michal.
April 22 – Wednesday
This morning with Bolek went to University of Warsaw. Since every now and then I am acting as an agent for University of Calgary ESL Program I though that I might get some contacts in Warsaw and eventually get some customers for UofC English As A Second Language Program. I did get some e-mail addresses and phone numbers. Well, we will see what is gong to transpire from it all. In the afternoon met Marlena and we went to Lomianki where she lives with her husband Krzysiek. Thank you both for your hospitality.
April 21 – Tuesday
Visited Marlena in her bank in Pruszkow. Had nice lunch with Marlena and Bolek. My goodness Polish food rocks !!!! On our way back to Warsaw we stopped at the big department store, Polish version of our COSTCO called MacroCash. That store was 3 times the size of an average COSTCO with 5 times (if not more) as many different products one can spend money on. Here in North America we have far less producers of various products as to compare with Europe. Their dairy department was at least FOUR times as big as ours with mind bogling assortment of dairy products from all over the Europe. I ended up buyig 75 cans of delicious smoked fish which we call in Polsh “szprotka”, I do not know English name of this delicious fish so let’s leave it at that.
April 20 – Monday
Arived in Frankfurt after 9 hours or so. Still had over 3 hours to kill before catching plane to Warsaw. Before leaving I called our good friend Grisha (well, I call him Grisha or Grishka, his name is Gregor (lol)) in Frankfurt so he and his lovely wife Gosia came to the airport to spend some time with me. We met at the place where EVERYONE and his dog meets at Frankfurt International – that is Frankfur International Eins Meeting Ploint (X marks the spot). There was not enough time to catch up on all the gossip but still we had nice “visit”. Too bad that after one hour I was back on the plane and after short flight arrived in Warsaw. My dear friends Marlena and Bolek were there to greet me – how nice of them
)
April 19 – Sunday
This afternoon left Calgary for Frankfurt.
