Katowice

Katowice, heart of Polish mining and place where people with big hearts live. We came to Katowice by train and were welcomed at the railway station by Leszek and Mr. Mazur - Grisha’s father. First we went for lunch where we met Ola, Leszek’s lovely wife. After lunch we were taken to Leszek’s friend apartment were we stayed while in Katowice.

Ola and Leszek took really good care of us. They took us to Wisal, Szczyrk, Ustronie. We met their good friends - Dyniol and Lidka, Szufla and Maja. In between Szczyrk and Ustronie we stapped for lunch at a place called “U Heli” - wow, what a fantastic lunch it was. actually after first time we repeated the visit again. Definitely place to go to while in that part of Poland.

The main reason for us to come to Katowice was to meet with Grisha (coming from Germany) and to take part in Leszek’s 50th birthday celebration. Also we were supposed to meet Ninka - she was to come to Canada in June and stay with us for a month.

Well, it was quite a celebration that 50th birthday - alcohol and food just kept coming. we met lots of very nice people there and had great time. We sat next to Szufla and Maja so Limin had good time too since Maja speaks good English (and Italian) while Szufla kept Limin laughing. Dyniol the most funny guy one could meet was all over the place keeping everybody laughing. Ola as the one who organized the party was busy looking after everyone and everything (by the way she looked ravishing. It was great evening indeed.

Couple of days later while in Ustron, while everyone was having a drink Limin and I went on a chairlift to Czantoria. from there we went on a real hike. We ended up on Czech Republic side of Czantoria - Limin without valid visa, heheheh. We took a picture of Limin with one leg in Poland and another one in Czech Republic.

Soon it was time to go back, so we did.
