It was pretty gloomy morning. Overcast, foggy every now and then little snow. We planned a ski trip for today but….the weather did not look promising. After little “debating” we decided to give it a try. At 11 o’clock I picked up Matt at his mother place and we were on our way to Nakiska. We, means Limin and I, Matt and Tian. Shortly after leaving Calgary weather improved 100 %, beautiful snow and blue ski – dream weather for skiing. It was simply hard to believe that there could have been such a difference. Initially the road was pretty slippery forcing me to slow down from my customary 120 km/hr down to 80 km/hr but since we didn’t want to end up in the ditch I had to put a dumper on my speed. As we approached mountains road conditions improved so I sped up. By noon we were in Nakiska. As soon as we got tickets Matt was gone. He’s crazy about snowboarding and he was anxious to hit the hills as soon as he cold. Lmin, Tian and I walked to Bronze chairlift. Since it has been 2 years since Limin skied last I recommended to her to take it easy, to brush up those a bit rusty skills. After their first run, I took few pictures and took off to hike up the mountain since I could not ski. I almost had to force myself not to go and rent pair of skis. It all looked so perfect but….I was not supposed to ski this year.It would be so bad to break something again despite docs warnings. I know that had I had my skis with me nothing would be able to stop me….lol. Anyway while they went skiing I walked up the hill all the way to mid-mountain lodge. Eventually we all met up there and had bite to eat. After our lunch they went on skiing while I walked down mostly under and along Olympic chairlift. To go up I took service road along ski hill but on my way down I walked the ski hill. Some places it was so steep that it was very hard to remain “stuck” to my trail, I wish I had crampons or skis (lol). By the time I reached the lodge Limin was already there so we sat and waited for boys. The hill closes at 4 pm but as I predicted they timed it so by 3:55 pm they took Golden chairlift all the way to very top of the mountain hence it was well after 4 pm when they finally emerged.
